OK, so we might have a president soon who's friendly toward local food programs. But what are we referring to when talking about laws and regulations that encourage local food production and consumption? What's already on the books? The National Agriculture Law Center is a place to start. In fact, it recently added Local Food Systems to its list of food law topics. Here you will find a host of definitions, case law, and links to laws and regulations (both at the federal and state level) relevant to local food, like The Farmers' Market Nutrition Programs and the School Nutrition Programs. And while you're in the Law Center's reading room, you might as well check out the pages dedicated to Sustainable Agriculture, the National Organic Program, Agriculture and Urbanization, Corporate Farming Law, and Biotechnology. |

Unfortunately, the story of food can sometimes be complicated. But envirovores help each other out...which is why this blog will be bringing you news, tips, and information about food and the environment every step of the way.
