With about 4,700 farmers markets in the U.S., Ed Schafer, the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture, thought it was time to declare August 3 - 9 National Farmers Market Week. In some communities, farmers markets seem to be on every corner come the weekend; in others, they may be few and far between. To locate a farmers market near you, check out the following resources: USDA's Agriculture Marketing Service Buying local is one way we can reduce our carbon footprint.
