Soup to Nuts: a Taste of Missoula's Local Food Scene PDF Print E-mail

Okay. I know that the beauty of any news blog is the short and sweet (or sometimes in our case, bitter) nature of posts. But sometimes life just ain't that simple. Just this week I wrote a feature article on local food in and around Missoula, MT for the alternative weekly, the Missoula Independent. This is an in-depth look into a local food system that is slowly but surely piecing itself together. The idea was that I ate only local for a week and in the process talked with some major Montana locavores. I realize the gimmick isn't new, but it helped me identify what, in particular, Missoula has to offer us in local fare and local food personalities. There's some great photos and history on Missoula agriculture, so I hope you'll take the time to give it a read.

Soup to Nuts: Erika Fredrickson set out to test Missoula’s burgeoning local food network. What she found might turn even you into a locavore.

Are you an Envirovore?

It's true what our moms said...we are what we eat. In fact, it's truer than they thought. What I eat doesn't just affect me anymore, it affects all of us.

Unfortunately, the story of food can sometimes be complicated. But envirovores help each other out...which is why this blog will be bringing you news, tips, and information about food and the environment every step of the way.
